Axalta, a company focused on coatings designed to prevent corrosion, expanded its manufacturing capability for its global industrial business, by investing in the 56,000 square foot Northern Stacks complex in Fridley, Minnesota.

Wade Arnold, Axalta Vice President, Industrial Wood Coatings said, "This complex is a sign of our commitment to being a proactive and innovative partner to our customers."

According to company officials, Axalta will use the facility for research and development, focused application work for its Industrial Wood coatings business, and warehousing and coatings production across its focused business segments. The building will begin production scale-up next month.

"Our wood business is investing in the necessary resources to meet the customer, operational and product development needs of both today and the future," said Arnold added. "This complex is a sign of our commitment to being a proactive and innovative partner to our customers."

Since its acquisition in June of 2017, Axalta's wood business has thrived, and the Northern Stacks complex will add more than three million gallons of capacity to support increasing customer demand throughout the Midwest, company officials said. Upon opening, Axalta will immediately dedicate 20,000 square feet to production space for wood building products.
