North Dakota LNG To Locate Liquefied Natural Gas Processing Facility In Tioga, North Dakota
05/07/2014
The facility will convert natural gas into value-added liquid fuels and help meet the oil and gas industry’s need for cost-effective power sources, the Governor's office said. When completed, the NDLNG plant will be capable of processing 76,000 gallons of LNG per day to be used as an alternative fuel in commercial trucks, farm tractors and other vehicles.
“This is an exciting day for North Dakota,” said Governor Jack Dalrymple. “North Dakota LNG’s state-of-the-art processing facility will play an important role in efforts to convert natural gas into value-added liquid fuels, foster more cost-effective alternate use of shale gas production and support our nation’s desire to reduce its dependence on foreign fuel sources. We appreciate North Dakota LNG’s investment in our state’s energy industry and support them in their venture to move North Dakota’s rich natural gas resources into the marketplace.”
NDLNG officials announced they will begin operations this summer, with a capacity to produce 10,000 gallons of LNG per day. The facility’s second phase will start up in early 2015 and increase total production levels to more than 76,000 gallons per day. This will allow NDLNG to quickly provide oil and gas operators in the Bakken and across North Dakota with a cost-effective and reliable source of alternative fuel, reducing operating expenses and creating new markets for natural gas produced in the state.
