Carolina Chips, Inc. Establishes Manufacturing Plant In Orangeburg, South Carolina
07/19/2016
The operation will produce wood chips and processed bark for the KapStone paper mill in North Charleston, South Carolina. To establish operations in Orangeburg County, Carolina Chips, Inc. will design, build, own and operate a new chip mill and wood storage yard in Holly Hill, South Carolina. The facilities are scheduled for completion and operation in the first half of 2017.
As an incentive, Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Orangeburg County a $100,000 grant to assist with the costs of road improvements.
“We are very happy about becoming a member of the Holly Hill and Orangeburg County community. We are also very proud and excited to be developing a long-term relationship with a solid, progressive and customer-driven company like KapStone,” said The Price Companies, Inc. President/CEO Dick Carmical.
“This announcement is another big win for one of our rural communities that will make a real difference in the lives of South Carolinians. We’re excited to welcome Carolina Chips to the South Carolina family, and we look forward to watching it succeed and grow here for many years to come,” Governor Nikki Haley said.
