Media Company Expanding Shared Service Center in Indiana

09/15/2008
News and information company Gannett will expand a national shared service center in Indianapolis, Indiana, creating as many as 200 new jobs in the process, according to the Indiana governor's office. The center is located in space currently owned by the Indianapolis Star, a newspaper that is part of Gannett's media group. The center, one of two in the United States, will provide accounts payable and general ledger services for the company. The Virginia-based company has committed to 55 new jobs immediately and has begun the hiring process for managers and financial services professionals; the other 145 positions are still under discussion, according to the Star. Gannett has been offered up to $780,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $155,000 in training grants contingent on job creation. Local governments will also provide property tax abatement.
