Corelle Brands Undertakes Major Upgrades to Charleroi, Pennsylvania Plant
12/02/2018
The $2.5 million state grant will enable Corelle Brands to modernize and renovate its Charleroi plant that has produced Pyrex glassware for the past 70 years. The project includes rebuilding the existing glass tank, furnace, and brick lining, and replacing with state-of-the-art materials and technology.
By modernizing the furnace and implementing other upgrades such as purchasing a parking lot and replacing an electrical substation, the project will increase the plant’s long-term viability and help retain hundreds of jobs. The project is expected to cost approximately $10 million.
“Congratulations to our team at the Charleroi plant for receiving this grant from the Wolf Administration and also earning the 2018 Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence,” said Ken Wilkes, President & CEO of Corelle Brands. “We take great pride in this recognition, and we would like to thank the department and our employees for their commitment.”
Grant funding was provided through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. RACP supports critical expansion projects across the commonwealth, with an emphasis on providing opportunities for additional economic development. Corelle Brands LLC and its affiliates manufacture and market products worldwide through a portfolio of well-recognized and respected brands.
