Atlas Fibre Company Relocates To Large Manufacturing Complex In Northbrook, Illinois
05/02/2016
In operation since 1957, Atlas will move from Skokie, Illinois, to a 117,000 square-foot building in Northbrook during the fourth quarter of 2016. Located on a four-acre parcel in north suburban Northbrook, the new facility will be a welcome upgrade for Atlas from its current 38,000 square-foot building in Skokie. Atlas General Manager, Mark Russell noted, "Our current facility has served us well, but demand has already exceeded our capacity and we need to have a more modern and flexible building."
"With this new, substantially larger facility, Atlas will be able to increase its capacity to meet the high demand for our products throughout all manufacturing sectors," said Atlas Fibre President, Richard Welch. "Our customers are demanding closer-tolerance fabricated components in shorter lead times, meaning we have to have the space, flexibility and technology to meet strict production and quality standards," said Welch.
Atlas is ISO 9001:2000 certified, supplies custom-sized rods, sheets and tubes from glass-epoxy and phenolic, and machines high-quality custom parts from all types of thermoset and thermoplastic materials.
Atlas employs approximately 40 sales engineers, craftsmen and quality control specialists and expects to add new hires once the move is complete. "The village of Northbrook has been very welcoming and we appreciate their support in helping Atlas with this move. We look forward to being a big part of this great community," said Welch.
