Turkey-Based Mogul Invests $17.6 million To Establish U.S. Manufacturing Plant In Laurens County, South Carolina
08/26/2015
The company is investing $17.6 million in its new operations, creating 38 new jobs from beginning of operation. To establish its Laurens County operations, Mogul is purchasing an existing 91,000-square-foot building, located at 100 ISO Poly Parkway in Gray Court. This plant will focus specifically on the production of spunlace products which have medical, hygienic and personal wet wipes applications. Moving forward, Mogul expects to use its Laurens County facility to expand its already-robust product line. The company anticipates to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2016.
“Mogul is excited to launch its new North American operations in Laurens County, South Carolina. Through our new facility in South Carolina, we will be able to better serve our North American customers with our diverse offerings of quality nonwoven products. We want to thank the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the South Carolina Power Team, the Laurens County Electric Co-op and Laurens County, South Carolina, as well as all of our private and public sector partners for making this project a reality. We look forward to building a long, prosperous business venture in South Carolina,” said Mogul Tekstil, A.S. Founder and Chairman Ekrem Kayali.
“The fact that Mogul has decided to establish its first North American operations in Laurens County is great news for our state and for the company. Mogul’s $17.6 million investment and the 38 new jobs it will create is a meaningful commitment to the people of South Carolina, and we’re proud to welcome this great company to the South Carolina family,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
“The reputation South Carolina has received for its world-class workforce and pro-business environment continues to make its way around the globe, and today’s announcement by Mogul is a testament to that. We congratulate the company and Laurens County on this significant milestone and look forward to the continuation of this tremendous partnership for many years to come,” added Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
