RockTenn's $5 Million Expansion Project Will Add 500 Jobs to Georgia Economy
08/08/2011
RockTenn, a North American manufacturing leader in the paper and packaging industry, recently posted net sales of nearly $10 billion. About 1,100 of its 26,000 employees work at various Georgia locations.
Gov. Nathan Deal, along with the state of Georgia and Gwinnett County economic development teams, worked closely with RockTenn to help secure the expansion.
The company will take advantage of Georgia Quick Start, the nation's top-rated customized workforce development program. It also will tap into the University System of Georgia's Intellectual Capital Program, and the resources of the Georgia Institute for Technology. The Georgia Department of Labor will help RockTenn with hiring workers.
RockTenn's Chairman/CEO Jim Rubright said continued growth in Georgia enables his company to not only consolidate many of its corporate functions, but also focus more on providing superior paperboard/packaging solutions at very low costs, exceeding customer expectations, and creating long-term shareholder value. Another bonus? "This expansion will help us continue to provide our employees with a great place to work," he added.
