Georgia PrintCo Invests More Than $2 Million To Establish Northeast Production Center In Luzerne County, Pennsylvania
08/08/2013
Georgia PrintCo plans to purchase a previously vacant 32,000-square-foot facility in Pittston Township, Luzerne County. The new location will allow the Georgia-based company to enter the market in the northeastern United States and expand its customer base, reducing operation costs.
“We are looking forward to creating new jobs in an effort to improve the economy in this community,” said Sheldon Hurst, managing partner of Georgia PrintCo. “I would like to thank the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for their support and assistance in this endeavor. I am excited to bring Georgia PrintCo to northeastern Pennsylvania.”
To assist with Georgia PrintCo’ s site selection efforts, the company received a funding from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including a $50,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant; $50,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits; and $11,250 in Guaranteed Free Training, which will be used for skills training for new employees. The company will also be eligible to apply for a $625,000 loan from the Machine and Equipment Loan Fund.
The project was coordinated by Governor Tom Corbett’s Action Team, and the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce to support Georgia PrintCo’s site selection project.
“Georgia PrintCo’s decision to grow in our region validates the advantages we offer as a competitive location for aggressive firms looking to serve the Mid-Atlantic metropolitan market,” said Austin Burke, President of Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “Our technologically skilled and productive work force has a great tradition of adding significant value to such operations. We join the governor and DCED in welcoming Georgia PrintCo to northeastern Pennsylvania.”
