10/25/2018
The company specializes in manufacturing metal body frames and major components for use in the automotive industry. SEWON America is a subsidiary of SEWON Precision Industry Co., which is headquartered in South Korea.
“With the support of Governor Nathan Deal, Troup County and the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), SEWON will remain operational and able to continue to deliver parts to our customers,” said Ken Horton, SEWON general manager of human resources. “Thank you for investing in SEWON America and most importantly, thank you for investing in the team members that work at SEWON America. SEWON will continue to be a creator of jobs in LaGrange and Troup County thanks to the State of Georgia and the City of LaGrange.”
With this expansion, SEWON America will add additional manufacturing lines to meet production requirements for new Kia and Hyundai models. The new manufacturing lines will improve efficiency and flexibility compared to current technology, which will allow for greater productivity.
“SEWON America has been an incredible community partner with LaGrange and Troup County for over a decade and our team could not be more proud of what this long-term investment means for the community,” said Scott Malone, President of the LaGrange Economic Development Authority. “These are exciting times for us all and SEWON America is a big reason why.”
“As the No. 1 state for business, Georgia maintains a competitive economic environment that encourages growth and innovation among companies already operating here,” said Governor Nathan Deal. “SEWON America has a significant economic footprint in the Troup County area and with this expansion, the company will continue to benefit from proximity to our growing family of automotive manufacturers and a workforce that is second to none. We are proud of SEWON America’s success here in Georgia and we appreciate the company’s commitment to investing and creating quality jobs in the LaGrange community.”
GDEcD Regional Project Manager Maggie Laton represented the Global Commerce Division in partnership with the LaGrange Economic Development Authority.
“SEWON’s expansion is not only a win for Troup County, but for the entire automotive industry sector in Georgia,” said GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson. “It drives home the fact that leading automotive suppliers and manufacturers from across the globe are finding success here in Georgia. I congratulate SEWON on this fantastic expansion news, and I look forward to the company’s continued success in LaGrange.”
