Precision Southeast Expanding Marion County, South Carolina, Manufacturing Facility
12/05/2014
The company is relocating to the Marion County Spec Building, developed in partnership between the county and Pee Dee Electric Cooperative, at 2785 Gurley Road in order to meet increased customer demand. The expansion is being facilitated by an increase in machine sizes, service offerings, logistics and the number of industries served. Precision’s Marion County operation currently employs 80 workers.
“It’s great to see that my home state, which is not only business friendly but also is a great place to live, is now on the cutting edge of creating top manufacturing jobs. We have enjoyed working closely with the economic development staffs in both Marion and Horry counties, and we plan to partner in greater depth with the state’s technical institutions to develop people who want to stay here and work in high value-added jobs for years to come. We would like to thank the County staff and the state’s Department of Commerce for their interest and support in our competitiveness and our growth, and how that can improve the quality of life for hundreds of South Carolinians,” said Precision Southeast CEO Steve Stradtman.
This expansion complements recent growth of the company’s existing Horry County operations, which represented $2 million in investment and 60 new jobs hired at that site. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved an $800,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant and job development credits related to the project.
“Precision Southeast has been doing business in South Carolina for nearly 35 years and that partnership means a great deal to the local communities they help support and to our state as a whole. The fact that they have expanded in both Horry and Marion Counties over the past year proves their commitment to South Carolina and we look forward to watching them continue to grow for many years to come,” Governor Nikki Haley noted.
“Precision’s decision to move into the County spec building culminates a partnership between Marion County and Pee Dee Electric Cooperative to improve economic development in the County. It also emphasizes the importance of existing industry and the significant impact it has on our community, “ said Marion County Council Chairman Buddy Collins.
“Precision Southeast's decision to reinvest in the region demonstrates their confidence and commitment in our workforce. They're a great company and we're very excited to see them succeed in conjunction with the region,” North Eastern Strategic Alliance Chairman Lt. Governor Yancey McGill said.
