Steelcase's $2 Million Expansion Project Expected to Add 50 Jobs to Alabama Economy

Steelcase is investing $2 million in an expansion project which will relocate its architectural walls division to Athens, Alabama.

A company spokesperson said the established operations there will eventually gain 50 to 60 jobs over the next year. Currently it employs about 940 workers.

Steelcase's investment in the North Alabama plant qualifies for a $37,000 sales tax abatement and a nearly $9,000 deduction in annual property tax for the next 10 years, it has been reported.
