Eco Building Products Relocates Manufacturing Center To Tacoma, Washington
07/28/2015
According to the firm the move makes Tacoma the Company's largest facility, located on favorable transportation lanes with direct access to the I-5 corridor and rail spurs leading to both the Union Pacific and BNSF. Based at the Port of Tacoma, the facility has a great deal of additional space to access and has been laid out to accommodate the second generation of a high output automated line.
"Tacoma is positioned to provide western wood species coating for our Western customers as well as our customers in the Northeast because of its proximity to rail. Coupled with the newly acquired Augusta, Georgia, facility, Tacoma rounds out our coating footprint to provide services in key high growth markets," said Tom Comery, Eco President/CEO. "We expect Tacoma to become our highest output facility and we have put a very talented team in place there, led by Regional Vice President, Nathaniel Bruce."
Tacoma is designed to produce all of Eco's core products including Eco Red Shield, Advanced Framing Lumber; Eco Fire Treated, Eco's Class 'A' Doug Fir studs; Eco Sill Plate and Eco Trim.
"Tacoma solidifies our strategy to penetrate high demand markets while staying within a targeted distance from the indigenous saw mill, engineered wood and panel industries," Comery added.
"Working with the Port has been a great experience," Nathaniel Bruce stated. "They have been very accommodating of our planned need to expand. We were adamant that we have the facility laid out in a manner that when the time comes in early 2016 to add an automated line we can simply bolt it down and go. In addition, we have a paint line in the final stages of assembly and will have it up and running by the end of the summer as well. We are building an order file and actually coated our first orders last week. It is a very exciting time!"
