DC Machine Expands Operations in Summerville, South Carolina

09/11/2019
DC Machine, an industrial design and machining center that manufactures close tolerance components, is expanding its existing operations in Summerville, South Carolina. The company’s investment of $9.5 million is expected to create 63 new jobs in Dorchester County.

Since DC Machine established its first 250-square-foot facility in Dorchester County in 2004, the company has grown tremendously. An expansion in 2015 increased operating size to 17,000 square feet and added 17 new jobs.

DC Machine’s current expansion includes the purchase of an existing building, located at 2735 W. Fifth North Street in Summerville and increases operational space by more than 61,000 square feet. This expansion will allow the company to grow production of existing product lines and expand into others. The new facility is projected to be operational by third quarter of 2019.

“The people in the Summerville area are what allow us to operate at such a high level. The employees are our most valuable asset, and I am happy to be able to expand in my hometown,” DC Machine Plant Manager Matthew Crim said.

“This latest expansion by DC Machine is a further demonstration that South Carolina’s business-friendly climate, market access and quality infrastructure are growing the economy and creating jobs,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
