LBP Manufacturing Expands Operations In Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania

LBP Manufacturing, a manufacturer of fiber and resin based foodservice packaging, will lease a facility in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. The company plans to create 74 new jobs.

To expand its market footprint and establish an East Coast presence, LBP will lease a 101,935-square-foot facility with manufacturing and office space at 7 Alberigi Drive, Jessup Borough, Lackawanna County. The building was previously occupied by BAE Systems until it ceased operations at the location in late 2015.

LBP will invest nearly $6 million in the project, which will include building renovations, leasehold improvements, and the procurement of new machinery and equipment. LBP has committed to the creation of 74 new, full-time jobs over the next three years.

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team in collaboration with The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and The Lackawanna County Department of Planning and Economic Development. As an incentive, LBP received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development that includes a $150,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant, $148,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon creation of the new jobs, and $31,050 in WEDnetPA funding for employee training.

“LBP Manufacturing had considered establishing its new facility in a handful of states in the eastern part of the country, but ultimately chose Pennsylvania as the best place to locate and grow its business,” said Governor Tom Wolf. “Our prime location, with strong transportation logistics advantages, and our talented and dedicated workforce were both key factors in attracting the company. I commend LBP on its decision to make Pennsylvania its home.”
