Israel-Based Spuntech Industries Invests $35 Million To Expand Its Roxboro, North Carolina, Manufacturing Center
12/10/2013
“We are very excited about the additional investment in the Roxboro site. With the success of our last investment, we look forward to a bright future in the U.S. with our new expansion,” said Gidi Krasny, CEO of Spuntech Inc. “We appreciate the support of the local community as well as the state of North Carolina in assisting us in providing high quality people to match our state of the art operation.”
“North Carolina continues to be a top choice for global companies looking to establish advanced manufacturing facilities,” said Governor Pat McCrory. “This proves how important our investment in education, research and infrastructure is resulting in good jobs for North Carolinians.”
“Companies like Spuntech recognize that North Carolina is a great place for businesses to thrive because of our top-notch business climate and incredibly well-trained workforce,” said N.C. Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker. “We’re going to continue leveraging North Carolina’s tremendous assets as we keep working to expand jobs here.”
The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $235,000. The grant is contingent upon proof of job creation and receipt of a local funding match. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds.
"The expansion at Spuntech is an important confidence builder for Person County, its business climate and its people," said Rep. Winkie Wilkins. "Person County took some hard economic hits during the national downturn. That makes Spuntech's expansion even more important. I am certain that the county's willing and well-prepared workforce will continue to serve Spuntech well."
Other partners that helped with this project include: the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, Person County, the City of Roxboro, and the Person County Economic Development Commission.
