Corinth Pellets To Expand Wood Pellet Manufacturing Facility In Penobscot County, Maine

Wood pellet manufacturer, Corinth Pellets, plans to invest upwards of $7 million to expand and upgrade its manufacturing facility in Penobscot County, Maine.

“Corinth Pellets is an excellent example of how a staple Maine industry can thrive when provided with the tools to be competitive,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “Government does not create jobs, but it can create an environment where businesses can thrive. As a result of Corinth Pellets’ investment, more Mainers will be put to work, and our overall economy will prosper.”

Company officials credit Maine’s business-friendly approach as a determining factor to implementing their expansion strategy. “The incentive package, presented by Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, will give us the ability to purchase the equipment needed to increase production and hire more people,” said Corinth Pellets Chief Financial Officer Ken Carle. Carle also suggested that the timeframe for those jobs, currently set at a 24-month span, would have been much longer without the incentives.

Carle also credited the Governor’s Account Executive Jaimie Logan, Maine Department of Economic and Community Development liaison to Corinth Pellets, with helping to facilitate the firm’s expansion. “She is one fantastic lady,” Carle said, adding Logan’s organizational skills and punctuality helped expedite both the application and certification processes greatly.
