Karndean Designflooring Expands Manufacturing Center In Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania
08/01/2014
The firm has outgrown its space in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, and will double in size through this expansion at its current site. The company has also committed to creating at least 38 new jobs and retaining 69 more positions over the next three years.
“We are excited to begin this expansion process here in Pittsburgh,” said Ed Perrin, CEO. “We’re committed to providing the best possible service to our customers and being a valued employer in the region. It not only benefits us as a business, it also enables us to strengthen our relationship with the local community by creating jobs and partnering with local vendors.”
The company received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development including a $75,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant that facilitates investment and job creation, $17,100 in Guaranteed Free Training which will be used for skills training for both new and incumbent employees and $76,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits. Karndean has accepted the funding proposal, but must still apply for each loan and grant and agree to the terms prior to award receipt.
State Community and Economic Development Secretary C. Alan Walker said, “Our partnership in the growth of Karndean will provide skills training for new and incumbent workers and will add 38 new jobs in Westmoreland County.” The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team in collaboration with Westmoreland County Economic Development.
“We are excited with Karndean’s decision to expand their operations in the county and provide job opportunities to our residents,” said Jason Rigone, Executive Director of the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation. “Their decision to grow here instead of at their other U.S. locations is a strong indicator that Westmoreland County is a great place to do business.”
