Quad/Graphics Closing Five Plants, Eliminating 2,200 Jobs

08/10/2010
Commercial printing company Quad/Graphics is closing five plants across the United States, eliminating 2,200 jobs six months after the company purchased the Canadian firm World Color Press. The closing plants are in Corinth, Mississippi; Clarksville and Dyersburg, Tennessee; Lebanon, Ohio; and Reno, Nevada.

As part of its merger, the company is seeking to move operations to more efficient locations. Employee performance was not a factor in the decision.

"To the extent possible, we'd like employees to continue with the company and we will review transfer opportunities with them," said Quad/Graphics President and CEO Joel Quadracci.

The majority of the plants' equipment will be converted to scrap materials.
