2022 Gold & Silver Shovel Awards Project of the Year: CoStar Group Expanding in Richmond, Virginia

When the firm’s project is completed, it will occupy more than one million square feet along the James River.

Q2 2022
Nearly 2,000 new jobs are on the way to the banks of the James River in Richmond, Virginia. That’s where CoStar Group is planning to expand its research and technology center, in a $460 million investment with a completion date of 2024.

CoStar is a commercial real estate data provider, and the new complex will include a 26-story, LEED-certified office tower that could become the city’s tallest building if plans proceed for demolition of a slightly taller existing, unrelated building. CoStar also will build a six-story multipurpose building. The company will become the city’s biggest technology company, and one of its largest private employers.
