Adient Plans Normal, Illinois, Production Operations
07/29/2025
The investment will include the repurpose of an existing 85,000-square-foot warehouse facility which will produce complete front and rear seat assemblies for Rivian.
"Having suppliers like Adient located near our plant in Normal will be a key enabler when we increase production next year to build R2," said Carlo Materazzo, Rivian Vice President of Manufacturing Operations. "Integrating suppliers on site reduces costs and improves manufacturing efficiency."
The project is being supported by the Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois program.
"Illinois continues to lead the way in electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing, and we are excited to welcome Adient to our growing clean energy ecosystem," noted Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Director Kristin Richards. "Through our REV Illinois program, we are proud to support innovative companies that are creating the clean energy jobs of the future right here in Central Illinois."
Adient specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of innovative seating systems and components for all major automakers. The company currently operates more than 200 manufacturing and assembly plants globally.
