R/S-Godwin Truck Body Expands Floyd County, Kentucky, Operations

10/15/2026
Truck equipment manufacturer R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. plans to expand its operations in Floyd County, Kentucky. The approximately $17 million project is expected to create 65 jobs.

The investment will include additional land, manufacturing space and equipment to increase production capacity for the company’s truck bodies.

“The Godwin Group is proud to be partnered with the state of Kentucky, Floyd County and surrounding areas to help R/S-Godwin continue to grow,” said R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. CEO Ryan Taylor. “We are proud that this will also see those citizens of this area prosper as well.”

To support the project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement through the Kentucky Business Investment program, providing up to $2.1 million in performance-based tax incentives. The agreement is based on a $17.28 million investment, the creation and maintenance of 65 full-time jobs and an average hourly wage of $35.84, including benefits.

“From Owsley County to Floyd County, we are celebrating some great wins for Eastern Kentucky that we create more opportunities for the hardworking families who call this region home,” noted Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. “Our state was built on small, family-owned businesses choosing to reinvest and grow here, and I want to thank the leadership of R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co. for their commitment to our commonwealth and our people. I am excited to see their continued success in the years to come.”

KEDFA also approved up to $150,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act (KEIA), which allows companies to recover eligible sales and use taxes on construction costs and equipment. The company may also access state workforce recruitment and training assistance.

“This expansion of the company is a great investment in Floyd County. The $17 million investment is creating 65 great-paying jobs for the people of Floyd County and the surrounding area. With the continued growth and success of R/S-Godwin, the future of Floyd County is looking great. Congratulations to Floyd County Judge/Executive Robbie Williams, Floyd County Fiscal Court, R/S-Godwin and others for making this expansion possible,” added Big Sandy Area Development District Executive Director Eric Ratliff.

R/S-Godwin Truck Body Co., part of the Godwin Group, manufactures commercial truck bodies and equipment, specializing in dump bodies for highway and vocational applications. The company provides fabricated steel truck body solutions for construction, transportation and other heavy-duty industries.
