10/12/2026
Specialty materials manufacturer Solstice Advanced Materials plans to expand its operations in Buffalo, New York. The $49 million project is expected to create 12 jobs.

The investment will include increased refrigerant and thermal management research capabilities, enhanced toxicological testing facilities and the construction of a new laboratory for advanced energy storage materials.

“This investment will accelerate the innovation our customers and critical industries depend on while creating new opportunities for growth in Buffalo,” said Solstice Advanced Materials Vice President of Research and Development Tom Isberg. “By expanding our R&D capabilities here, we are strengthening Solstice's proven hub for advancing next-generation solutions from lab to market. We are grateful for the support of New York State and Empire State Development, whose partnership is helping strengthen Buffalo's long-standing role as a center for scientific innovation and research.”

To support the project, Empire State Development is providing up to $1.4 million through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program.

“Solstice Advanced Materials’ commitment to Buffalo highlights the strength of New York’s high-tech ecosystem under Governor Hochul’s leadership. By supporting strategic infrastructure and R&D enhancements like this, we are ensuring that manufacturers have the tools they need to drive global innovation and local economic growth,” noted Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight.

Solstice Advanced Materials is a specialty materials and chemicals manufacturer producing products for the semiconductor, healthcare, aerospace, refrigeration, and industrial markets.
