Molson Coors Canada Eyes Longueuil, Quebec Brewery
11/29/2017
The company could break ground on a new plant next year, if the City of Longueuil approves the project. After 231-years of brewing in Montreal, Molson Coors could begin operations at its new Longueuil plant by 2021.
"Today's decision to move forward will enable us to stay competitive in an evolving market, we are ready to move forward with this vision," Frederic Landtmeters, President & CEO of Molson Coors Canada.
“Our intention is to build a modern high-performance brewery that will enable us to stay competitive in an evolving market by relying on the world-class talent and brewing expertise found here in Quebec,” said Landtmeters said.
“As we look to the future, our roots will always be in Montréal, and we would like to thank our partners, particularly Montréal International, for understanding the challenges we were facing and supporting our investment project,” he added.
“This is excellent news for Greater Montréal and the city’s brewing industry, as hundreds of jobs will stay in the area. The investment will also yield significant benefits both locally and internationally,” said Hubert Bolduc, President & CEO of Montréal International. “Molson is an iconic Greater Montréal company, and its decision to stay and initiate a major investment project in the area will further enhance the city’s international profile.”
According to Montreal International with Molson Coors’ operations moving to Longueuil, the new investment also opens the way for an urban development project on the 231-year-old historic site on Notre-Dame Street East. Discussions with the City of Montréal are underway to renew the area and ensure its harmonious development.
