Viracon Invests $2 Million To Expand Its Statesboro, Georgia, Manufacturing Center
05/13/2014
The existing 330,000-square-foot facility in Statesboro produces and fabricates architectural glass for major construction projects across the United States. This newest expansion will help the company meet the expected growth in product demand, particularly growth in commercial construction activity along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
“We have a great team in Georgia,” said Bill Wright, Viracon’s Vice President of U.S. Operations. “On behalf of our employees, I would like to thank the city of Statesboro, Bulloch County and the state of Georgia for helping us grow our business in our Southeast plant.”
Viracon is based in Owatonna, Minnesota, and has facilities in Statesboro, St. George, Utah, and Nazaré Paulista, Brazil. Viracon produces high-performance glass products, including tempered, laminated, insulating, silk-screened and high-performance coatings, for North American and international markets. The company is a subsidiary of Apogee Enterprises. Apogee, headquartered in Minneapolis, is a leader in technologies involving the design and development of value-added glass products and services.
“Georgia’s booming manufacturing sector makes it easy for leading global companies such as Viracon to remain competitive in Georgia,” said Governor Nathan Deal. “Having the tools to help existing business create high-quality jobs is important to keeping our state a leader in the international marketplace.”
Annie Baxter, Director of the Logistics, Energy, Agribusiness and Food Team at the Georgia Department of Economic Development, worked closely with the Development Authority of Bulloch County and the Statesboro Bulloch Chamber of Commerce in assisting the company.
“We were able to secure this expansion for both Statesboro and Bulloch County thanks to the creativity and hard work of our state partners and local leadership,” said Bruce Yawn, Chair of the Development Authority of Bulloch County.
