Heavy-Metal Manufacturer Expanding in South Dakota

05/08/2009
Horizontal Machining and Manufacturing, Inc. (HMMI), a heavy-metal machining operation, will expand its facility in Huron, South Dakota, according to the South Dakota governor's office. The company plans to add 35 new positions with the project, with plans for additional new jobs in the future. HMMI plans to add 17,000 square feet to make room for new equipment needed for increased customer demand. "We started getting more requests for larger machining projects, so we decided to take a chance and expand to accommodate those requests," says Earl Nordby, HMMI's president. "The future looks good with our strong customer list, so we felt like this was a good time." The company has received an incentives package from the state that includes a $700,000 loan.
