National Air Cargo Holdings Relocates Its Headquarters To Orlando, Florida

National Air Cargo Holdings, Inc., a global cargo logistics provider, and its subsidiary, National Airlines, has relocated its headquarters and airline offices to Orlando, Florida. The firm’s $875,000 in capital investment will create 105 jobs in the community.

The company will occupy more than 25,000 square feet in the Citadel II building at 5955 T. G. Lee Boulevard, taking the entire fifth floor. For the short term, National is utilizing temporary space on the second floor of Citadel II, while awaiting completion of its offices upstairs.

“Florida provides an aviation rich environment for our growing Airlines, and a wonderful home base for our employees,” says Glen Joerger, President of National Airlines. “Our former home at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan, served us well when we flew DC-8s; however, once we retired those aircraft and started flying the larger Boeing aircraft all over the world, we no longer needed our business offices to be located in close proximity to a runway,” Joerger said. “We considered a number of cities when looking to move Orlando was the best in every measure.”

“In addition to our employees working in Orlando and calling Florida home, we will have many more employees coming to the state on a regular basis as part of their jobs,” said Jeff Miller, Vice President of Operations for the Airlines.

The project was made possible through strong partnerships between Enterprise Florida, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, City of Orlando, Orange County, Workforce Florida, Inc. and Department of Economic Opportunity.

“We are delighted to welcome National Air Cargo Holdings, Inc. to Orlando,” said Rick Weddle, president and CEO of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission. “They fit in naturally with the already strong aviation industry cluster as well as our corporate headquarters presence in the Orlando region.”

As an incentive, National Air Cargo has been approved for performance-based Qualified Targeted Industry Tax Refunds and Quick Action Closing Fund. In addition, the City has approved a cash grant of $126,000 to support the project.

“When looking at cities for its relocation, National Air Cargo Holdings elevated Orlando to the top of its list in part because of our community’s strong military presence, well established aviation industry and high quality of life,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “In today’s economy, it’s not often that a large company like this would relocate its headquarter operations so Orlando is honored to welcome National Air Cargo and its employees to our community.”

As part of the project, Workforce Florida, Inc. offered National Air Cargo support through the Quick Response Training grant program. In addition, Workforce Central Florida will provide workforce identification services including prospective worker screening and testing. The value of these services is expected to be at least $52,500, or $500 per job.
