Swiss-Based LafargeHolcim Expands With Facilities in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado

LafargeHolcim is the leading global building materials and solutions company. It has four businesses: cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete as well as advanced solutions and products that include precast concrete, asphalt and mortar.
Founded in 1945, Transit Mix Concrete Co. will continue to operate under its current name. This is the third acquisition for LafargeHolcim in the past seven months and the second in Colorado.
LafargeHolcim takes ownership of the Transit Mix ready-mix operations and the Daniels Sand Quarry, all of which are located in and around Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Colorado. Transit Mix, which has more than 180 employees, was acquired for for $27 million, according to company officials.
“For many years Colorado has been a dynamic and growing market, and Transit Mix Concrete Co. has been a part of that growth. They are the largest construction materials producer in the Southern Front Range, and this is a great opportunity to expand our business in Colorado,” said René Thibault, Region Head North America and Interim CEO for LafargeHolcim’s US Aggregates & Construction Materials business. “I’d like to welcome all Transit Mix Concrete employees to our company.”
In the United States, LafargeHolcim companies include close to 350 sites in 43 states and employ 7,000 people. Company officials said “our customers rely on us to help them design and build better communities with innovative solutions that deliver structural integrity and eco-efficiency.”
