Dallas Airmotive Identifies Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport As Site For Advanced Test Facility
05/19/2014
According to the firm, design of the facility includes three turbo shaft and three turbo fan test cells and the company plans to begin construction in late July. It is expected to be completed and operational by the first half of 2015.
“This state-of-the-art test facility represents the future of Dallas Airmotive,” said Doug Meador, Dallas Airmotive President. “It is part of a business transition we began earlier this year and will provide us the flexibility to meet the needs of a changing industry and expand our service offerings to customers.”
Dallas Airmotive’s Test Facility will feature a centralized state-of-the-art control room and a 15,000 square foot pre- and post-test preparation area. “Our design process included a lot of focus on technology and efficiency,” Meador added. “We wanted to make sure we are maximizing workflow while still creating an environment that allows our engineers and technicians to deliver the quality and quick turn times our customers demand.”
Dallas Airmotive evaluated several locations in and around the DFW metroplex. The site at the DFW International Airport was proposed for its central location within the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as for being the third busiest airport in the world. The proposed location is logistically situated to allow ease of access for global customers and employees. Meador explained that there were other considerations as well. “At the DFW Airport location we are in an area that offers safe haven for future expansion and the operations at the test facility won’t impact our neighbors,” he said. “There were also business advantages to the location and in the end, we love aviation and what better location to experience aviation than Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.”
Meador explained, “Large cabin business aircraft and helicopters continue to drive the growth in new deliveries and we plan to be there when those customers need us.”
