New Pharma Plant Opens in Puerto Rico

Operations are underway at Eli Lilly's new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Guayama, Puerto Rico. According to the Puerto Rico governor's office, the company's subsidiary Lilly del Caribe will run the 230,000-square-foot plant, which will produce the active ingredient in the antidepressant Cymbalta. More than 250 new jobs have been created as a result of the $150 million investment. Since 2001, Lilly del Caribe has invested more than $1.2 billion in Puerto Rican facilities, employing more than 1,700 people.
