BD&K Foods Expands Columbus, Georgia, Operations Center
09/15/2015
The expansion will allow the company to roll-out its new Fixin’s line of hot, packaged side dishes slated to be sold in grocery store delis alongside rotisserie chickens and other ready-to-eat protein items. The new space will be a compliment to BD&K’s existing 30,000 square-foot facility on Andrews Road that has grown to employ 75 production and administrative associates since arriving in Columbus in 2009.
"We have been very pleased with the quality of the workforce here in Columbus as well as the site selection support we received from the Columbus Chamber of Commerce," said Kevin Jordan, CEO of BD&K Foods. "This new building will allow us to bring in-house our freezing, storage and distribution functions. It also allows us to expand our production capacities in the future."
BD&K foods worked closely with the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority of Columbus to make this project a reality. "Our economic development department has made it a priority to work with existing companies," said Brian Anderson, President/CEO of the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce. "By taking time to understand BD&K’s business, our team was able to provide valuable resources and insight to the company which has resulted in a deepening of their roots in Columbus."
"Existing businesses like BD&K are so important to the health and growth of our community and as such we are excited about their acquisition and plans to hire more people in Columbus," said Billy Blanchard, chairman of the Development Authority of Columbus. "We also appreciate the partnership we share with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce which has a proven track record of attracting capital investment and new jobs to our community."
