Food Manufacturer Expanding to Michigan

09/24/2008
Consolidated Biscuit Company, a contract producer and packer of cookies and crackers for major food brands, will invest $12 million to open a new manufacturing center in Tecumseh, Michigan, according to the Michigan governor's office. The company plans to hire approximately 500 new employees as part of the expansion, with an additional 500 to 600 indirect jobs expected. The Ohio-based company will be refurbishing an existing 600,000-square-foot vacant facility. The governor's office reports that Consolidated Biscuit was considering a facility in Kentucky before choosing the Michigan site. Incentives for the company include state tax credits of $5.4 million over a 10 year period; up to $125,000 in job training funds; and city tax abatements of approximately $867,000.
