Seemann Composites Expands Gulfport, Mississippi, Manufacturing Complex
08/09/2016
Located in the Bayou Bernard Industrial Park, Seemann Composites will construct a 25,600-square-foot building to produce bow domes for the Navy’s Ohio Class Replacement Submarine Program.
“We would like to thank Governor Bryant, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Harrison County Development Commission for their support in helping us meet this critical need for the U.S. Navy Submarine Program,” said Seemann Composites President Bill Seemann.
Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the expansion for site preparation and infrastructure needs. Seemann Composites currently has 105 employees in Gulfport. The company expects to begin construction on the facility this year, with initial production slated to begin in late 2017.
“Mississippi’s maritime and defense industries are thriving on the Gulf Coast, and Seemann Composites’ expansion to support a new contract with the U.S. Navy further strengthens Mississippi’s position as a leader within these industries,” Governor Phil Bryant said.
“Seemann Composites is a global technology leader so MDA is pleased to assist the company as it grows in Gulfport to support our armed forces, creating more than 40 exciting new career opportunities for Mississippians,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We salute our partners at the Harrison County Development Commission and Harrison County for their winning teamwork with MDA, which played an important role in this project.”
