"Since 1987, we've invested more than $3.5 billion in our network," said SaskTel President and CEO Robert Watson. "This year's network investment will help to ensure that Saskatchewan's best network is current and competitive well into the future."
The corporation is planning a new, 3G wireless network; faster high speed Internet service; and expansion of its Max television subscription service. The investment package includes C$48 million to deliver high speed Internet and cellular coverage to rural areas, and C$11 million for Next Generation Access Infrastructure, which provides fiber optic cable and increased bandwidth closer to homes and businesses. It will also expand high speed Internet to First Nations with a C$6 million investment.
SaskTel has more than C$1 billion in annual revenue, and more than 1.3 million customer connections.
