Engineered Medical Systems Expands Manufacturing in Bartlett, Tennessee
08/06/2020
With growing demand and changing technologies in the surgical field, EMS plans to purchase new state-of-the-art Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) equipment, which will add machining capacity with increased capabilities for its existing location in Bartlett. The company recently expanded its facility in Bartlett from 40,000 to 92,000 square feet to accommodate the increased manufacturing demand.
“EMS has developed tremendous partnerships with world leading biomedical OEMs. We have built an extraordinary team of managers, engineers and machinists that has enabled us to respond to the challenging demands of our industry. We look forward to leveraging our capabilities and service offerings in the dynamic biomedical market,” Ben R. Smith, CEO of Engineered Medical Systems said.
“I applaud EMS for its expansion in Bartlett and welcome the creation of 60 new jobs for Shelby County. This type of investment is crucial as we work to bring Tennessee’s economy back on track and ensure Tennesseans have access to quality job opportunities,” said Governor Bill Lee.
“TNECD is committed to support our local communities and help them attract the private investment and job creation needed to help revive our economy. It is a terrific sign that EMS will move forward with this expansion in Bartlett so quickly after completing its last expansion, and I welcome the creation of 60 new family-wage jobs in West Tennessee,” TNECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe said.
“TVA and MLGW congratulate Engineered Medical Systems on its decision to expand operations in Shelby County. Working with our partners to help support existing business growth and new job opportunities are fundamental to TVA’s core mission of service. We are proud to partner with MLGW, Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Bartlett, Shelby County and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to celebrate this announcement and support Engineered Medical Systems in its continued success in the Valley,” John Bradley, TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development added.
Founded in 2002, Bartlett-based EMS manufactures surgical instruments, implants and specialty medical devices.
