The new facility will insource production and vertically integrate critical supply chain materials. Production is scheduled for the middle of 2024.

"We are excited to bring new jobs to the City of Wooster. This expansion reflects our continued commitment to deliver innovative packaging solutions to customers and expand our make a difference cause to Wayne County. We believe there is a strong and well-developed work force here, which will create a solid base of operations and a positive associate experience,” said Scott Welch, Welch Packaging President and CEO. “We look forward to opening our 5th business in Ohio, furthering our commitment to growth in the Buckeye state. The City of Wooster has been an excellent partner, developing a strong and capable workforce that is sure to create a solid base of operations. We are excited to contribute to the growth of Wooster and the surrounding areas by providing employment opportunities and supporting the local economy.”

The Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) approved the project for tax credit assistance during its Ohio Tax Credit Authority.

“It was a great team effort with local partners, JobsOhio, and the Ohio Department of Development, to ensure Welch Packaging Group chose the Northeast Ohio Region for their new facility,” noted Chief Executive Officer Bill Koehler. “With the region’s strong manufacturing legacy and talented workforce, we are sure that the company will flourish here.”

The City of Wooster, Wayne Economic Development Council, ODOD, JobsOhio, and Team NEO provided the company with information to secure their decision to locate in Northeast Ohio.

“We are pleased that Welch Packaging has selected to invest in Wayne County,” added Maribeth Burns, president of the Wayne Economic Development Council. “Since the late nineties, Welch has continued to expand their geographic footprint across the Midwest through expansion from organic sales growth, acquisitions, and the continued development of their roughly 1,400 associates. They will be a great addition to Wayne County’s driven, dynamic, and diverse business base.”
