Israel-based Mazor Robotics Plans to Locate Its US Headquarters In Orlando, Florida
12/07/2012
The company, which first plans to occupy temporary headquarters in downtown Orlando before moving into its BioResearch Center, currently markets and distributes Renaissance systems, robotic systems that are transforming spinal surgery from free-hand operations to highly accurate procedures. Metro Orlando Economic Development said Mazor currently has 20 U.S.-based employees and intends to increase its workforce at its newly established Orlando headquarters over the next three years.
"We look forward to relocating our U.S. base to the Metro Orlando area," said Ori Hadomi, CEO of Mazor Robotics, Inc. "We anticipate a great deal of growth over the next several years, and the medical centers in Florida have been innovators with their rapid adoption of the Renaissance technology. We strongly believe that with the Orlando area's commitment to providing a superior environment for medical research and development, our company will be well-positioned to maximize that growth opportunity."
The State of Florida, City of Orlando, Enterprise Florida, Florida Hospital and the Metro Orlando EDC collaborated in this project. In a package of incentives, Mazor Robotics, Inc. received approval from the Sunshine State and the City of Orlando for incentives worth approximately $238,000, $190,400 from the state and $47,600 from the city, allocated from the Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund program.
"The growth of Health Village is another sign that Florida's economy is headed in the right direction," said Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll. "Governor Scott and I are working everyday to grow jobs and create opportunities for Florida families. I am honored to help announce how this project will make a positive impact in the lives of those who call Central Florida home."
"Mazor's move to Orlando is a shining example of what can result from pursuing targeted and strategic international economic development opportunities," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "This is also a testament of how Orlando is increasingly being considered as the location for national and global headquarter operations."
