Linde Plans Garysburg, North Carolina, Air Separation Operations
04/17/2026
The investment will include the construction of a new air separation facility at the Northampton County Commerce Park to produce argon, nitrogen, and oxygen for use in healthcare, semiconductor manufacturing, battery production, and food processing.
“We chose this location based on its proximity to customers and the support of Northampton County,” said Todd Lawson, Vice President of Linde’s East Region. “This new air separation unit will strengthen our presence in the state and expand our ability to reliably serve customer demand.”
The project is being supported by a performance-based grant of $60,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. The OneNC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All OneNC grants require matching participation from local governments, and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.
“Linde’s decision to build in Northampton County validates the community’s resilience and strength,” noted Lee Lilley, Secretary of Commerce for North Carolina. “When companies like Linde choose rural North Carolina, they reinforce our position as a strong business environment across the state.”
In addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, other partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, the North Carolina Community College System, the Golden LEAF Foundation, Northampton County, Northampton County Economic Development Commission, and Dominion Energy.
Linde manufactures and distributes industrial gases used in healthcare, food and beverage, electronics, and chemical applications, supporting a wide range of industrial and commercial markets.
