Cheyenne, Wyoming Welcomes $70M Supercomputing Center

"We could get more computing power, almost double as much, and a faster start and larger facility in Cheyenne than any other site," said Rick Anthes, president of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, which manages the project. "And that means you can almost immediately increase the computing power, which supports research in our atmospheric science community."
Cheyenne was chosen for its cool, dry climate; strategic location of transportation and communication hubs; access to national fiber optic networks; abundant power; and a $20 million appropriation by the Wyoming Legislature for the project.
