Coastal Logistics Group Invests $1.2 Million In Summerville, South Carolina, Shipping Warehouse Facility
06/25/2014
CLG is operating the facility as part of a strategic alliance the company formalized last year with Kuehne + Nagel Inc., one of the world's leading logistics providers. The alliance leverages Kuehne + Nagel's international footprint and supply chain management services with CLG's expertise in warehousing and distribution.
CLG's facility, which is located at 2725 W 5th North Street in Summerville, South Carolina, houses value-added services for customers that ship goods internationally through the South Carolina Ports Authority's terminals. CLG provides value-added export services for original equipment manufacturers, including disassembling, packing and shipping vehicles in a semi-knocked down process. The company plans to expand into the power generation, construction and aerospace industries and offer both import and export services.
"We are very grateful for the help we have received from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Dorchester County, readySC, and the South Carolina Ports Authority in this exciting expansion of our business in conjunction with our alliance partners at Kuehne + Nagel. We have endeavored for years to establish an operation in Charleston to service our clients and we are glad to be a part of the community,” said Chad Barrow, CEO of Coastal Logistics Group.
In addition to the Dorchester County facility, CLG operates in Norfolk, Memphis and Savannah. Kuehne + Nagel Inc. is part of the Kuehne + Nagel Group of companies, which has more than 1,000 logistics offices in more than 100 countries, including a branch office in Charleston located at 670 Marina Drive.
"We are delighted to be able to expand our operational footprint within the important Charleston market and service more of our valued customer warehousing requirements through our Alliance with the Coastal Logistics Group,” said Juergen Gentzke, Regional Vice President of Kuehne +Nagel Inc.
"Coastal Logistics Group is joining the many companies in South Carolina that do business on a global scale, thanks to our ports and our infrastructure. We congratulate Coastal Logistics Group for locating in Dorchester County and creating 60 jobs with this $1.2 million investment,” Governor Nikki Haley noted.
"The SCPA welcomes Coastal Logistics Group to the Lowcountry. They offer highly specialized services for shipping international cargo, and their presence will no doubt drive increases in container volume through our capable Charleston facilities,” Jim Newsome, South Carolina Ports Authority President/CEO added.
