Data Foundry Builds $150M Center in Austin, Texas
06/03/2010
"We performed extensive site research to locate an existing building in Austin that might suit the needs for our next site," said Ed Henigin, chief technology officer of Data Foundry. "It became clear that retrofitting an existing building would not allow us to deliver the high level of service that we envision for our new data center, so we have chosen to build from the ground up."
Increased customer demand drove the company's decision. The company chose Austin for its low rate of natural disasters, reliable power available through the state's independent power grid, and reputation as a major technology center. The new center can deliver more than 100 megawatts of power. It is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2011.
