06/03/2013
The London-based company is the world’s leading manufacturer of beverage can and aluminum can ends. The expansion project involves moving a production line from Chicago to the Fremont facility, which has been recognized as one of the most efficient plants for the company, Regional Growth Partnership said.
The city of Fremont and the Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation were both key players in moving the project forward, RGP officials said. In addition, JobsOhio recommended that Rexam receive a Job Creation Tax Credit and Workforce Development Grant to support the company’s expansion efforts.
John Minor, President and Chief Investment Officer for JobsOhio said the Rexam Beverage expansion, and a plans by another firm, National Machinery, to expand its metal forming technology research and development center in Tiffin, Ohio, “are a testament to the role a well-trained workforce has in a company’s ability to grow and create more jobs. Strong collaboration with the RGP and our local partners is vital to securing these and other projects, that together help drive the region’s and Ohio’s economic success.”
“This is more good news for Northwest Ohio and the state as we continue landing successful projects which have helped Ohio become one of the leading states for job growth in the Midwest,” said Gary Thompson, vice president at the RGP and director of JobsOhio,Northwest Ohio region.
