Van-Am Expands St. Joseph, Missouri, Operations

03/25/2026
Metal machining and fabrication company Van-Am plans to expand its manufacturing operations in St. Joseph, Missouri. The $1.5 million project is expected to create 17 jobs.

The investment at the company’s existing facility will include new machinery and equipment to support the growth of its MK41 project, a technology component currently used by the U.S. Navy.

"This new technology will expand our capabilities and increase our capacity," said Keith Mills, CEO of Van-Am. "This component, used by the U.S. Navy, is equipment we stand by, and it will provide more opportunities for collaboration and partnerships."

To support the project Van-Am will benefit from the Missouri Works Program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation. Van-Am is estimated to receive $210,325 through the Missouri Works Program subject to verification of program requirements. The company may receive assistance from Missouri One Start, a division of the Department of Economic Development. Missouri One Start assists eligible businesses with their recruitment and training needs.

"Van-Am has been an important part of Missouri’s manufacturing landscape for more than four decades, and we’re excited to see the company investing in its future," noted Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. "This $1.5 million capital investment in Buchanan County and the creation of 17 new high-paying jobs reflect the strength of Missouri’s advanced manufacturing sector. Van-Am has demonstrated a strong commitment to our state and we’re proud to support the company’s continued growth and success."

Van-AM specializes in solutions for tooling, stamping, machining, and manufacturing. The company also provides heavy fabrications and machined products in the industrial, medical, and defense markets.
