Corvid Technologies Expands Mooresville, North Carolina, Manufacturing Operations

10/17/2026
Defense contractor Corvid Technologies plans to expand its operations in Mooresville, North Carolina. The $95 million project is expected to create 423 jobs in Iredell County.

The investment will include the construction of a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the company’s existing headquarters campus, expanding engineering and manufacturing capabilities for vehicle launch systems.

“We’re incredibly excited to continue expanding our campus here in North Carolina and investing in the people, facilities, and capabilities that will support Corvid’s growth for years to come,” said Corvid Technologies President and CEO Dr. David Robinson. “In just two and a half years, we’ve grown from 8,000 square feet of manufacturing space to 800,000 square feet. That is an extraordinary transformation for our company, and it reflects the demand we are seeing from our customers and the confidence we have in our people. We are proud to continue building Corvid’s future right here in North Carolina.”

The project will be supported, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG). Over the course of the 12-year term of this grant, the project is estimated to grow the state’s economy by $1.7 billion. Using a formula that takes into account the new tax revenues generated by the new jobs and capital investment, the JDIG agreement authorizes the potential reimbursement to the company of up to $4,449,750, spread over 12 years. State payments occur only following performance verification each year by the departments of Commerce and Revenue that the company has met its incremental job creation and investment targets.

The project’s projected return on investment of public dollars is 93 percent, meaning for every dollar of potential cost to the state, the state receives $1.93 in state revenue. JDIG projects result in positive net tax revenue to the state treasury, even after taking into consideration the grant’s reimbursement payments to a given company.

Because Corvid chose a site in Iredell County, classified by the state’s economic tier system as Tier 3, the company’s JDIG agreement also calls for moving as much as $1,483,250 into the state’s Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account. The Utility Account helps rural communities anywhere in the state finance necessary infrastructure upgrades to attract future business.

“Corvid is advancing defense innovation and helping strengthen our national security,” noted North Carolina Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley. “This expansion underscores how North Carolina provides the stable, supportive environment that high-tech start-ups need to thrive while connecting them with a rich ecosystem of innovation and talent that drive investment.”

The North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) worked on the project with the North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, the North Carolina Community College System, Mitchell Community College, Iredell County, Iredell County Economic Development Corporation, the Town of Mooresville and Duke Energy.

Corvid Technologies is an engineering and technology company specializing in computational physics, advanced modeling and simulation, and engineering solutions for the defense, aerospace, and automotive industries.
