ProVia Plans Mocksville, North Carolina, Manufacturing Operations

Exterior building products manufacturer ProVia plans to establish operations in Mocksville, North Carolina. The $120 million project is expected to create 400 jobs in Davie County.

The investment will include the construction of a new 580,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the TriWest Business Center that will feature a window production line serving the southeastern U.S.

“This expansion will enable us to continue delivering quality products to our growing marketplace with a high level of service and excellent lead times,” said ProVia President and CEO Brian Miller. “We are humbled to grow at this scale and grateful for the trust our customers place in us. This investment reflects our commitment to continuing to earn that trust by providing exceptional quality and service. It also reflects the tireless efforts of the communities behind these projects, and we are grateful for their partnership.”

The project will be supported, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), which was approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee earlier today. Over the course of the 12-year term of this grant, the project is estimated to grow the state’s economy by $1 billion. Using a formula that takes into account the new tax revenues generated by the new jobs and capital investment, the JDIG agreement authorizes the potential reimbursement to the company of up to $3,280,500, spread over 12 years. State payments occur only following performance verification each year by the departments of Commerce and Revenue that the company has met its incremental job creation and investment targets.

Because ProVia chose a site in Davie County, classified by the state’s economic tier system as Tier 3, the company’s JDIG agreement also calls for moving as much as $1,093,500 into the state’s Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account. The Utility Account helps rural communities anywhere in the state finance necessary infrastructure upgrades to attract future business.

Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley. “Our First in Opportunity plan will guide the work to strengthen our site readiness and infrastructure, ensuring North Carolina remains prepared to compete for the next generation of investment.”

In addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), other partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, North Carolina Community College System, Davidson-Davie Community College, Davie County, Davie County Schools, Davie County Economic Development, Town of Mocksville, and Duke Energy.

ProVia manufactures exterior building products, including doors, windows, siding, stone, and roofing products for dealers and distributors serving the residential construction market.
