Italy-Based Bertagni 1882 Plans St. Charles, Missouri, Operations

Italy-based premium pasta manufacturer Bertagni 1882 plans to establish operations in St. Charles, Missouri. The more than $36 million project is expected to create 150 jobs.

The investment will include the construction of a new manufacturing facility located at the former General Mills pizza crust-making site at 3850 Millstone Parkway.

“The acquisition of the St. Charles facility marks an exciting new chapter for Bertagni,” said Enrico Bolla, Managing Director and Co-founder of Bertagni 1882. “It will allow us to expand into meat-filled specialties, enhance supply chain security through U.S.-based production, and deliver fresh products to our retail partners while continuing to provide the award-winning Italian quality we have perfected since 1882. This investment enables us to reach out to new customers in a market brimming with opportunities.”

To support the project Bertagni will benefit from the Missouri Works Program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation, subject to verification of program requirements.

The company may receive assistance from Missouri One Start, a division of the Department of Economic Development. Missouri One Start assists eligible businesses with their recruitment and training needs.

Bertagni, a subsidiary of Spain-based Ebro Foods, manufactures fresh filled pasta products for specialty food retailers, delicatessens, premium grocery chains, and private-label programs.
