Plastics Manufacturer Expanding Indiana Bottle Production Facility

07/08/2009
Madras Packaging, a manufacturer of plastic bottles for industrial and consumer markets, will invest $5.8 million to expand its bottle production facility in Argos, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The company, which plans to hire 30 new employees by the end of 2012, will construct a 40,000-square-foot warehouse adjacent to its existing 130,000-square-foot facility. "Our Argos facility has experienced significant growth in sales over the last year, requiring the expansion of the facility, and Argos is the perfect location when you consider it is centrally located within a number of major markets for plastic bottles such as Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, and others," says Joe Carr, Madras Packaging's vice president and general manager. "This is why we chose to invest in our Indiana facility versus erecting a plant in another state." Construction will begin this month and is expected to be completed by the fall, at which time hiring for the new positions will begin. The state has offered Madras Packaging up to $165,000 in performance-based tax credits and $39,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; the town will consider additional property tax abatement.
