Indiana Wireless Broadband Provider Expanding, Creating 100 Jobs

Omnicity Corporation, a provider of broadband access to rural areas, will invest $2.5 million to expand its operations in Rushville, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The company plans to create 100 new jobs over the next three years, more than doubling its current work force. Omnicity will use the investment toward wireless infrastructure improvements and the construction of a new corporate office to house its call center, collections, and distribution operations. "We believe we are at the perfect place with the perfect plan at perfect time in our efforts to reach all of the rural areas with broadband services that are much needed for economic development, education, healthcare, and smart-grid technology," says Greg Jarman, Omnicity's CEO. "Our investment in Indiana makes this an exciting time for us." The state will provide Omnicity with a $110,000 grant to assist in offsite infrastructure improvements and up to $25,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation. Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in October.
