Toyota Plans Expansion at Buffalo, West Virginia, Assembly Plant
03/15/2019
The automaker reported they plan to invest $111 million to expand its West Virginia facility and add equipment that will double capacity of its hybrid transaxles from 120,000 units to 240,000 units annually in 2021.
“We are proud to add such a significant cost investment to Toyota West Virginia, not only financially but also in adding team members to the Toyota family,” said Leah Curry, Toyota Motor Manufacturing WV President, in a statement.
“Doubling our production of hybrid transaxles in West Virginia solidifies our facility’s role in producing next generation engines and transmissions that will drive the future of Toyota’s advanced mobility technology,” Curry added.
“There is so much good that comes along with this expansion of our Toyota plant, and the very best part is knowing that it will bring over 100 new jobs to our state for hard-working West Virginians,” Governor Jim Justice said. “I’m a business guy and I’ve always said that if we can help our businesses grow, there’s no limit to what we can do.
“Toyota has been a wonderful partner for West Virginia,” Governor Justice added. “And their decision to make this incredible investment right here at home is just fantastic because it really proves that businesses are excited to be in our state and are able to succeed in West Virginia now more than ever.”
