CCL Label DES Plans To Expand Laurens County, South Carolina, Manufacturing Facility

A world leader in the development of label and specialty packaging solutions for global producers of consumer brands, CCL Industries is investing $30 million to expand its label division – CCL Label DES– in Clinton, South Carolina. The expansion project is expected to create 98 new jobs over the next five years in Laurens County.

This Laurens County expansion will result in a 36,000-square footage addition to the company’s existing facility, located at 29485 Highway 76 East in Clinton. A majority of the construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. The Clinton, South Carolina, site supports customers globally with highly engineered component products and Industry award-winning printing for the electronics, automotive, consumer battery, and beverage markets.

This project is a result of our growing global businesses in a number of important expanding markets. The Clinton site, its management team and the skilled and reliable workforce, made it an easy decision to help grow the Southern U.S. corridor for many of the products we manufacture globally, and to leverage the unique capabilities of the Clinton site,” said Al Green, CCL Technology Development Vice President.

CCL Label is the world’s largest converter of pressure-sensitive and extruded film materials for a wide range of decorative, instructional and functional applications for large global customers in the consumer packaging, healthcare, automotive and consumer durables markets. Additionally, CCL Label provides extruded and laminated plastic tubes, folded instructional leaflets, precision printed and die cut metal components with LED displays and other complementary products and services to specific end-use markets.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.

We are excited that CCL has chosen Clinton to make a major investment to grow their operation, and we look forward to working with them as they continue to grow,” said Chairman Jim Coleman, Laurens County Council and Laurens County Development Corporation.

“This announcement continues an excellent trend we’ve witnessed over the last several years – companies are growing their businesses in our state. In 2013, company expansions comprised more than half of all new capital investment committed,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt noted.
